Both UNF and UNC are part Unified Thread Standard, and are commonly used in the US and Canada. UNC stands for Unified National Coarse, while UNF stands for Unified National Fine.

Not surprisingly, the UNF fasteners, with their finer threads, have more threads per inch, when compared to UNC fasteners of the same diameter.
