Reserve Education Assistance Program

The US Army's Reserve Education Assistance Program (REAP) was established to provide Reserve soldiers called up on active service with up to 36 months of educational assistance.

How do I qualify for REAP

In order to obtain the benefits of REAP you must have served at least 90 days on active duty, either in support of combat operations or during a national emergency. If you sustain injuries before your 90 days is completed, you are also eligible.

Benefits of the REAP program

The REAP program pays out a percentage of the Montgomery GI Bill benefits based on the amount of time you spend in active service.

Time in Active Service Percentage of GI-Bill 3 year rate
Between 90 days and 1 year 40%
Between 1 year and 2 years 60%
2 or more continuous years 80%

The money from REAP can be used for the same programs as the Montgomery GI Bill.

More information on REAP can be found on the .PDF file linked below, or at this page on the VA's website.
