Fort Pickett

About

Established in 1941, shortly before America entered World War II, Fort Pickett was primarily used for infantry training - it's size and location meant it could train large numbers of soldiers in both mountainous and coastal environments.

After World War II, Fort Pickett became the home of the Virginia National Guard Training Center, and was used for training both Reserve, National Guard, and active-duty soldiers. Today it still trains soldiers from around the country, as well as federal agents and Canadian soldiers, and is entirely run by the Virginia National Guard.
