Fort Chaffee

Fort Chaffee was established in 1941, and during World War II was used not only to train armored divisions, but also housed many POW's from the European theater. Fort Chaffee also was used to hold refuges from Vietnam and from Cuba, and most recently assisted in housing refugees from the evacuation of New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina.

Fort Chaffee is primarily used to train National Guard and Army Reserve units from around Arkansas and surrounding states, as well as active units from other bases and federal agencies.
