MOS Details
Major Duties: 

Participates in and assists with the supervision of the administration of Army public affairs programs, primarily through writing and photographing the Army’s activities, for use in the internal and external news media.

Skill Level 1 Researches, prepares and disseminates news releases on Army personnel and activities.

Skill Level 2 Performs duties of and provides technical guidance to personnel in the preceding skill level.

Skill Level 3 Performs duties of and provides technical guidance to personnel in the preceding skill level while supervising the administration of an Army public affairs program.

Skill Level 4 Performs duties of and provides technical guidance to personnel in the preceding skill level while supervising an Army public affairs program.

Qualifications and Prerequisites
ASVAB Minimum Score: 
110 total from WK+PC+AR
Education: 
High school graduate or GED equivalent
Other Qualifications: 
  • Type 20 WPM before undergoing Army training.
  • Provide official transcript showing successful completion of 2 years of high school English classes.
  • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator license.
  • Formal training mandatory for Active Component and non-prior service ARNG and USAR soldiers. Formal training (completion of Basic Journalist Course at the Defense Information School (DINFOS), Ft George G. Meade, MD) or completion of Phase I (MOS 46Q Army Correspondence Course) and Phase II (RC Introduction to Journalism Course, Defense Information School) of the Journalist MOS Qualification program mandatory for prior service ARNG and USAR soldiers who did not previously complete the Journalist Course; or meet civilian acquired skills criteria listed in AR 601-210.
