MOS Details
Major Duties: 

The Electronic Warfare Specialist supervises and performs military action involving the use of electromagnetic energy to determine, exploit, reduce, or prevent hostile use of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Skill Level 2 Provides technical assistance to supported units. Maintains and assists in developing the Electronic Warfare Staff Estimate. Oversees EW Pre-combat Inspections/Pre-combat checks. Serves as the EW Master Trainer. Assists and coordinates with the S2 on Electronic Preparation of the Battlefield (EPB). Coordinates with the S6 for spectrum deconfliction. Disseminates Common Operating Picture (COP) and EW information.

Skill Level 3 Performs duties shown in previous skill level and provides guidance to subordinate Soldiers. Prepares and coordinates the Electronic Warfare appendix to the operations order. Develops EW input to Targeting Products. Participates in Targeting meetings. Analyzes relevant situation and predicts needs. Assesses EW risks and vulnerabilities and recommends countermeasures. Assesses friendly capabilities and missions in EW terms. Determines Electronic Protection requirements. Briefs friendly EW plan and vulnerabilities for each COA.

Skill Level 4 Performs duties shown in previous skill level, provides guidance to subordinate Soldiers, and serves as the principal enlisted assistant to commanders and as a staff NCO for major commands at brigade level or higher. Directs unit EW training and provides technical advice and assistance to commanders. Develops and executes EW policies and procedures for supported organizations. Coordinates external EW support mission requirements. Integrates EW operations into MDMP.

Skill Level 5 Performs duties shown in previous skill level, provides guidance to subordinate Soldiers, and serves as the principal enlisted assistant to commanders and as a staff NCO for major commands at the Division level and higher. Supervises and synchronizes EW personnel and operations within the force. Develops plans to use resources and determines priorities and overall training requirements. Reviews and identifies intelligence requirements and products. Advises during the Staff Estimate for electronic deception.

Qualifications and Prerequisites
ASVAB Minimum Score: 
100 total with VE+AR+AS+MC or GS+VE+MK+MC or GS+AR+MK+EI
Education: 
High school graduate or equivalent and completed high school algebra
Other Qualifications: 
  • Normal Color vision
  • Soldier must been in the grade of SGT or above with less than 10 years in service (Active Component Only).
  • Service Remaining Requirement (SRR) is 3 years for reclassification into MOS effective for all service contracts written on and after 1 October 2009 under the provisions of AR 614-200, chapter 4.
  • In-service accession soldiers must have successfully completed the Warrior Leader Course.
  • A Soldier must meet a security eligibility of SECRET and be eligible to receive a TOP SECRET (TS) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • No information in military personnel, Provost Marshal, intelligence or medical records that would prevent the granting of a security eligibility under AR 380-67 (para 3.401.a).
