Indian Army Summary

The Indian Army works with the other components of the Indian Armed Forces to ensure the national security and defense of India against outside forces and provide peace and humanitarian rescue missions internally. It is a volunteer force that has been given the legal right to use military conscription, but has not done so in its history. With over a million active duty soldiers in its ranks, the Indian Army is the largest volunteer army in the world.
