Can someone help me find a family member?

I have recently found my sister on Facebook, who I have never met, as a matter of fact she does not even know that I exist. We have the same dad but he didn't raise either of us. Well, She has a brother(I'm guessing on her mom's side) who is in the army and I know the army is big but maybe just maybe somebody who reads this will know him. His name is James Ecton and he is from Kentucky. That is all I know about him. I don't think my sister gets on Facebook that often, so there is no telling when she would see that I sent her messages, so now I'm trying to reach out to her family and friends to contact her so that I can meet her. If anyone knows who he is, please relay this message to him and I would greatly appreciate it!- Amy

Google?

Have you tried Google?

I plugged his name in a Google search & found a James Ecton on Facebook, Reunion.com, My Space & Twitter. There were also a couple of other Ectons including an Amber Ecton. Your sister?

no luck

I have tried everything....There are tons on Ecton's but no James Ecton. I have even called alot of ectons and no body seems to be kin to him. He does have a facebook but you can't directly send him a message without being his friend, so I friend requested him and put a message in with that. I have even paid for USSearches for my sister online and when it says it has a phone number, after you pay for it, there is no number....I have come to a dead end on this. No one seems to talk to her outside of facebook cause they all went to school with her. So now i guess my last resort is to wait until she gets on facebook again which is once a month it seems like. I know James in the army but I don't know where he is stationed at, but I do know he is from Kentucky. Anything would help at this point?

On Facebook

I saw the James Ecton on Facebook via Google.

I'm sorry to hear that. Keep trying. If he's in the Army maybe he's away from a computer for awhile on deployment or something like that. Being in the Army he could be anywhere in the world out of any Army post in the US. I suppose it's a possibilty that if he's from KY he could be home stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY if he could somehow arrange that. The main Army unit there is the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division.

I have a Private Detective license but have been inactive for some time but I know that listed phone numbers on searches can be disconnected, changed or unlisted & nobody can no longer get ahold of them. It seems some people just drop off the face of the earth at times.

thanks

She finally got on facebook, and I have talked to her pretty much everyday. Thank you for your help. we have also exhausted all resources on tryin to find our brother on our dads side. I have his parents name but he recently changed his last name and is not on facebook. An older friend of mine told me that I would have to hire a P.I to find him but I have no idea how much that would cost. I guess time will tell with that one too!!!!Thank you so much again!

You're Welcome

Glad I could be of a little help, nothing that you didn't or could have find on your own.

I was a PI between my Navy & Army years & even though I myself didn't make a whole lot the agency charged a bundle. It depends on how important it is that you find him & if your sister splits the cost with you it might be worthwhile. There has to be some sort of legal record of his name change.

I still have my PI license but it's expired. I'm kind of thinking of reactivating it again if I can find an agency that'll take me on. My security officer license is also expired as of 30 Sept so I'm just enjoying retirement now. I don't think I'll seek an armed security position again. Too much hassel & expense getting recertified all the time.

Good luck on the search for your brother. Is it possible that the parents would know what his last name is now? How did you out he was in the Army?

well...

as far as his parents, I have their names but no way to touch base with them. and now he wasn't the one in the army. The one in the army is my sisters, half brother. yeah, i know its confusing. but its been good to find my family. just sucks i live so far away from them. I guess I could google for "P.I's" too...lol

Right...

...Google is your friend. I'll bet that's the first thing a PI will go to. I wish I would have had that service when I was one. We had to go to the courthouse & use the PD computer for any records checks & change of name searches. Everything else was good old fashioned digging and sneakin' & peakin' to get any info.

If you have the names & know the general location where they live you can try a white pages search for a phone number. I did that a year or so ago looking for an old Navy buddy. It told me he moved a lot & I finally got an address & phone number that worked. Any further search would have cost me money as well as using a law enforcement computer like NCIC if I'd even be authorized to use it.

Searching for my father

Hello, Everyone,

I am searching for my biological father. His last name is Martin. I am not sure how they (my mother and father) could have been together for about two years, without my mother ever knowing his first name. He was stationed in Korea (Paju) during the mid-1960's (1964-1965?). He fueled military crafts (15 Aviation or 15th Division?). He was a lighter-skinned Black man. After his time in Paju, he went to Vietnam. My mother somehow contacted his family in America and they contacted him in Vietnam, letting him know that he was a father. My father was an only child, so he later returned to Korea to find me but my mother had moved. Her name was Yun Jae Sil. My Korean name is Yun Min Kyu.

Thank you for your interest and help!
Stephen

The only way I can see you finding any info on your father is to try to contact his family again. Chances are they're no longer with us, at least his mother & father, because even Vietnam vets are dying off from old age.

There is nobody on this site that has access to military records or the means to find a former service member. As retired Army working as a Private Detective (I recently got back to doing that again) even I have a lot of problems finding somebody using the sketchy info that you've given. The name Martin is very common & without his first name I'd say it's about impossible to find him. Even given the exact unit he served with & the exact time he was with them I really think you're going to strike out. There were several million US servicemen that served in 'Nam. There may have been a couple of thousand Martins that did the job your father did at various times.

Trying to find my father

I'm trying to find my father. He served in the Vietnam war in 1968. The only information about him is his name, Chuck. He wrote it on a photo. http://tinypic.com/r/2dlt75i/6
