Fort Story

About

Established in 1914, Fort Story; previously a sub-installation of Fort Eustis, is now a sub-installation of US Navy Little Creek Amphibious Base. Because of its location at the entrance to Chesapeake Bay, Fort Story contains a mixture of both soft and hard sand beaches, grassy dunes and cyprus swamps. Because of these natural features it is commonly used by Army for training in amphibious and Joint Logistics-Over-the-Shore (LOTS) training.

Mission Statement:
Fort Story is the Army's only training base for Logistics-Over-The-Shore (LOTS) operations to train troops on amphibious equipment and to practice the transfer of military cargo from ship to shore. The garrison supports the Transportation Corps to provide the full range of Army transportation services and support essential for CONUS-based and forward-deployment power projection forces across the operational spectrum in support of the National Military Strategy. Fort Story is part of the U.S. Army Garrison, 7th Group.
