The Post 9/11 GI Bill is an excellent source of financial support for veterans to further their education. The bill also covers housing in addition to tuition expenses. Veterans are eligible to receive benefits under the Post 9/11 GI Bill if they have at least 90 days of aggregate service after September 10, 2001, or those who were discharged with a disability related to their military service after 30 days. The discharge must have been honorable in order for the individual to be eligible for benefits. Eligible individuals can apply benefits to cover:

Q: I'm curious about BAH and GI Bill. What will I receive if enrolled in college full time? The college VA Office told me I would get $333/month from GI Bill (I am in the old one I believe? 1607?) I am in the Guard, 1 year of service, no deployment. I have heard mixed statements about also receiving BAH in the amount of E5 w/dependents based on the zip code of my school? If that is correct, what paperwork, and to whom do I submit it to? Any help would be great! I want to get a degree prior to my 2013 deployment date, but sure can't live on only $300/month.
Q: Hi, I'm currently enrolled full-time at the University of Alabama, and before I drop a course that could really hurt my GPA, I would like to know if I drop one course will that impact my BAH for the entire semester? I would also like to know why we receive partial BAH depending on the start of classes? The logic behind BAH is depending on the location you live in while in school, but most leases start the 1st of the month, so why doesn't BAH cover the full month of "move-in" and "move-out"?
Q: I have been getting the new GI Bill housing payments, until recently. I came back from winter break and have been enrolled in full-time classes, but I haven't received my check for the month of February. My rent is up and I am worried, help!
Q: Good afternoon, I'm terribly sorry to bother you as I know you're very busy. My question is just as crazy as everyone else's. Recently, I found out about this new Post 9/11 GI Bill and I'm very interested in pursuing a degree with this. Is there a way to find out how much the housing allowance portion will be that is paid to the veteran? Once again, thank you for your time and consideration.
