Veterans Retraining Assistance Program has Released a List of In-Demand Jobs for Vets

The Veterans Retraining and Assistance Program (VRAP) has released a list of 210 in-demand jobs, some which require as little as one year of training.

The VRAP provides up to one year of GI Bill education benefits to veterans aged 35 to 60 who are unemployed, not receiving veterans’ disability compensation based on unemployability, do not have any other veterans’ education or training benefits available, and are not enrolled in any federal or state job training programs. About 45,000 veterans can be covered under VRAP this year, with slots being filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The deadline for applicants is Oct. 1.

veteran's representation

I am a Proud Army Veteran. I was able to use vocrehab until muy compensation hit, a positive and negative. My main cry to veterans is PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELVES AND EACH OTHER. YOUR MENTAL HEALTH IS IMPORTANT. THIS STEMS FROM ACTIVE AND VETERAN STATUS. YOUR SELFLESS SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY CAN BE USED AGAINST YOU. I WAS DIAGNOSED BIPOLAR AND LOST CUSTODY OF MY 3 YR OLD SON. THE STIGMA HAS CRUSHED ME. MY DIAGNOSIS WAS NOT COMBAT RELATED OR EVEN CONSIDERED PTSD BIPOLAR BY VAMCS STANDARDS. THE NORMAL STRESSORS OF SINGLE PARENT HOOD WAS BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION AND I LOST THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF MY WORLD, MY SON MARCUS CINCERE. SO PLEASE EVERYONE, IN THE CHAIN OF COMMAND PROTECT OUR SOLDIERS BECAUSE OF THE TRAUMA THAT YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH AS A SOLDIER CAN CAUSE YOU TO BE STIGMATIZED AS A HARM TO SELF, FAMILY, AND COMMUNTIY THROUGH THE BIASED OPINION OF OTHERS LOOKING FOR AN EXCUSE..I HAVE ALL THE DOCUMENTATION THAT YOU WOULD NEED TO SEE THAT I WAS ROBBED OF MY FAIR AND EQUAL REPRESENTATION AS A MOTHER,SOLDIER, AND VETERAN. IF JAG COULD REPRESENT OUR SOLDIERS ACTIVE AND NON ACTIVE IT WOULD DO US A GREAT SERVICE TO KNOW WE HAVE NOT BEEN FORGOTTEN. MY FAMILY HERE DOES NOT SUPPORT ME, THEY GO ON MISINTERPRETED INFORMATION AND HAVE SHUNNED ME, THE VAMC IS MY NEW FAMILY AND STRANGERS HAVE BEEN MORE OF A SUPPORT SYSTEM. I THANKS THE VAMC MHC STAFF FOR ENCOURAGING EDUCATION OF MENTAL ILLNESS AND THE STIGMA THAT FOLLOWS. PLEASE IMPLEMENT SOLDIER CARE IN ALL TRANSITIONS..WHY SHOULD WE BE ROBBED OF OUR FAMILIES AND OPPORTUNITIES BECAUSE SOME ONE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE READING...I HAVE BEEN ROBBED OF MY SON AND AM SUPERVISED WHEN VISITING BECAUSE THEY HAVE STIGMATIZED ME LIKE AM A CRIMINAL..IT TAKES ONLY ALLEGATIONS TO START AND INVESTIGATION, A MAD NEIGHBOR OR WORSE A FAMILY MEMBER TO USE YOUR MILITARY EXPERIENCE AGAINST YOU, WE NEED PROTECTION AND LEGAL RECOURSE. YOU CAN CONTACT ME AT SWEETZCINCERE@YAHOO.COM OR CINCERECANDLES@YAHOO.COM. PLEASE TRY THE 1ST ONE, IT HAS LESS TRAFFIC. THANK YOU AND REMEMBER WE MILITARY ARE A FAMILY OF ONE.

VRAP

THE EDUCATION OR REEDUCATION PROGRAMS ARE GREAT. THOUGH I DO NOT FIT THE CRITERIA DUE TO MY DISABILITY RATINGS I AM UTILIZING MY BENEFITS I INVESTED IN WHILE IN SERVICE. I AM GOING TO STRAYER UNIVERSITY IN VIRGINIA FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION AND THEN I AM GOING TO OBTAIN A DOUBLE MASTER IN HUMAN AND HEALTH SERVICES. I WILL BE USING THIS EDUCATION TO ASSIST VETERANS AT THE VAMC. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCE DISCRIMINATION AS A VETERAN AND WISH TO PROTECT OUR VETERANS. I AM 100% IN SUPPORT FOR ANY AND ALL EDUCATION PROGRAMS THAT THE GOVERNMENT CAN OFFER. I A VETERAN'S ADVOCATE(VAV) COUNCIL MEMBER AND PARTICIPATE IN OUR VETERAN X PROGRAM. THERE ARE MANY PROGRAMS THAT WE CAN UTILIZE TO ASSIST OUR SERVICE FAMILY IN ACTIVE DUTY AND NON ACTIVE (VETERAN) SERVICE. THE NEED TO EDUCATE OUR SOLDIERS START WHILE IN SERVICE TO PREPARE THEM FOR THE CIVILIAN WORLD. THE NEED FOR THESE PROGRAMS AFTER LIFE OF ACTIVE DUTY IS DETRIMENTAL TO KEEP US AS POSITIVE ASSETS TO OUR NATION AND OFF OF THE UNEMPLOYMENT CRISIS AND OFF OF THE STREETS.. WE DESERVE THE BEST SINCE WE GAVE OUR BEST!!!

Online VRAP Schools?

I found many online schools don't have the VRAP benefit. One online school I found (Cleveland Institute of Electronics) offers it for their associate degrees.
