February 12 is the fast-approaching deadline for 2016 Scholarships for Military Children. Each worth $2,000, the scholarships are available to qualified dependent, unmarried children younger than 21 (or 23, if enrolled full time at a college or university) of an active duty service member, a reservist, or guardsman, retiree, or survivor of a military member who died while on active duty, or the survivor of a retiree.
Applications, which include a 500-word essay question, must be received at a military commissary by the close of business on the deadline date. Applications must be either hand delivered or sent via USPS, FedEx, or UPS -- no emailed submissions will be accepted.
The policy of the scholarship program is to award at least one scholarship at every commissary location with qualified applicants.
